  Abstract
        The crosstalk between NFκB and JNKs has been implicated in the cell life and death decision. Functional suppression of JNKs activation by NFκB has been recently proposed as a key cellular survival mechanism. Here, we provide a novel scenario of the pro-apoptotic role of IKK/NFκB p50/GADD45α, which can act as the activator of the MKK4/JNKs pathway in response to the stimulation of a cytotoxic reagent arsenite. This effect appears to be dependent on p50, and not p65/relA NF-κB subunit. This GADD45α up-regulation depended on NFκB p50-mediated its de-ubiquitination and proteasomal degradation, rather than by NFκB transcriptional activity. As NF-κB and JNKs are implicated in cancer development and are activated simultaneously by numerous stimuli, our findings are important for the development of the rationale design of targeting NF-κB for medical purposes.
